Geographical Profile in the Dru Sjodin Murder Case, North Dakota

The Sjodin case is the first time that geographical profiling had been used to pinpoint the area where authorities should search for a body. The entire search area is roughly 3,000 sq miles, so her body could have been found anywhere. The red line represents the predicted search area. Dru's body was found 1 mile from the predicted area. Just two days before police found her body authorities discovered that the prime suspect was raised on a farm just down the road from the location where Dru's shoe was found. Dr. Godwin did not have this piece of information. Dr. Godwin's profile was provided to police by a private investigator working for the Sjodin family. God Bless Dru. Thanks to all the search members - you know who you are.
